Saint Philip Roman Catholic Parish

Mass times and bulletins first, history everywhere else.

Saint Philip needed a site that answers the Sunday-morning question in one tap and still tells the story of a parish with deep roots.

The Saint Philip Catholic Parish home page Lava built: the church’s painted nave behind the Liturgy Schedule, with Bulletins and Donate buttons, above photos of the parish’s features.

The problem

When is Mass, and where’s the bulletin?

Parishioners and visitors came to the old site for one thing most of the time: when is Mass, and where’s the bulletin. Those weren’t easy to find. At the same time, the parish wanted to welcome new members by showing its history, its ministries, and the community behind the buildings.

What we did

What people came for, where they land.

A parish site built for the parishioner checking the schedule on Sunday morning and the visitor deciding whether to come.

  1. 01The liturgy schedule and weekly bulletins placed where a visitor lands, on any device.
  2. 02A design that shows the parish’s historic architecture and its community life.
  3. 03Navigation that leads naturally into ministries, religious education, and the sacraments.
  4. 04A site parish staff update themselves, so Mass times and events are never stale.
The work

Sunday morning, answered in a tap.

What Lava built, on desktop and phone.
The Saint Philip Catholic Parish home page on desktop: the Liturgy Schedule over a photo of the nave, then feature cards with photos of the church, its stained glass and a bingo card.
The Saint Philip Catholic Parish home page on a phone: the Liturgy Schedule with Bulletins and Donate buttons, then a photo of the church.
What changed

A front door that reflects them.

The schedule question is answered in a tap, and the parish has a front door that reflects who they are.

What made it hard

A long history, kept in its place.

Honoring a long history without burying the practical information people come for. The answer was hierarchy: the time-sensitive things first, the story everywhere else.
